Why should I get a chemical peel, anyway?

Chemical peels are the fastest, least invasive route to addressing almost all skin concerns!

Chemical peels can be the safest, most effective and least expensive treatment that addresses a multitude of skin issues and skin tones. Chemical peels are safe for all skin types and tones. Even darker skin tones can get peels too.

Peels do everything your topical home acid does, but stronger. They help prevent and clear acne, diminish discoloration, stimulate collagen (great for fine lines, wrinkles and scars) and help brighten and smooth the skin’s surface. Chemical peels, whether light (mild) or mid-depth, along with a home-care regimen, aid in clearing up acne, minimize scarring and discoloration throughout the process.

Downtime for a chemical peel is very subjective. In general, clinical facials I administer are considered “no downtime,” meaning you may experience blotchy skin for the rest of the day and light to moderate flaking for the following week. Stronger peels create more shedding that may be considered noticeable (more downtime, based on your tolerance and comfort). Always ask what type of acid, what percentage of acid and how many applications per treatment your aesthetician plans on using if you are concerned.

NOTE: Every peel you try may be different, even if the same type of acid in the same percentage is used by the same aesthetician.

Never assume from one aesthetician to the next that your chemical peel will have the same amount of downtime as the last one. This is due to the different variables at any given time that can affect how your peel turns out.

Factors that affect your peel:

  • Where you live
  • The time of year
  • Your gender and the time of month
  • Other products used with the peel
  • Other products being used at home (Are they the same or different than before?)
  • Over-the-counter or prescription medications you are or were using during the peel process
  • Your stress level

Don’t know where to start?  Schedule a new client consult or new client consult plus treatment.  If you are already a client of ours and want to get a peel, schedule for a Microdermabrasion or Dermaplaning Facial and we can incorporate the perfect peel for you and your skin care goals.
