Rule #2. Use the right products!
Skin care products for black, asian, or hispanic skin can only be recommended by a trained professional. Department stores and over the counter products are not concentrated enough to correct problems. In addition, there are ingredients that can exacerbate acne and/or cause irritation. Just because it says oil free and non comedogenic does not mean it will not clog your pores. There are all different types of Acne and depending on what kind you have and your skin type, dictates which products will work best for you. A simple label that says “for Acne, Oily or Combination skin” is not always sufficient in correcting the problem. For example, when dealing with Acne, it’s not uncommon to be oily and dry at the same time. Typically we start using some sort of acid to reduce breakouts and then wind up getting so dry we need more moisturizer causing more breakouts. A vicious cycle that can be avoided.
